2021 16th Annual Member Show Virtual Gallery

It is our pleasure to share with you our latest Member Show! To give these works a wider audience, we've launched both an in person exhibit as well as creating this online Virtual Gallery. If local, nothing compares to seeing the works in person so we highly encourage a trek to the Monadnock region.  I think we are all so happy to be back at the Jaffrey Civic Center Art Gallery! This year's juror of awards was Cindy Crimmin, a well-known award-winning local pastel artist and teacher. Her award picks are revealed below. We will be compiling a video slide show of her live commentary and insightful observations.

While we didn't have our usual opening ceremony with awards presentation, we are planning something different--a member paint out associated with the show. Date is set for June 12 (rain date June 26) from 10a -2p. More details to come, so stay tuned!

Thank you's to show chair Paula Fraser for facilitating this lovely show, to the Hanger Squad: Paula (and Art!!), Keith Demanche, Ruth Rinard, Carol Zwalen, Carol Corliss, Bernadette Quirk, Susanne Larkham & Maryann Mullett, and
to Susanne, for show graphics & Virtual Gallery design. Most of the works in the exhibit are available for purchase!  Please contact Rebecca at the Jaffrey Civic Center & she will assist you in the purchase.

All sales of artwork are subject to a 40% commission on sales made during the exhibition.

We have a few ways for you to enjoy the exhibit.  (Hover over the picture to stop the slide from automatically advancing). Further below we have our gallery showcasing all submitted pieces. There will be a box to collect the tallied votes. People's Choice will be awarded at the Close of the Show!

One of the things about this painting that really caught my attention when I first came into the show, was the beautiful coloring that she has on the lower left hand onion, there is a soft blend of  warms and cools, lovely transitions, they almost seems translucent, where you can see through the different layers of onion skin. She is a master of controlling the edges, some are crisp but others are very soft. The use of the vegetation as it surrounds it to direct the viewer’s eye to the focal point is spectacular. When we were looking at this in person, she had used a sparkle pastel, to get some of the more interesting effects of some of this vegetation. Just beautiful! The light seems to glow off of these onions. Her composition leans towards the abstraction but is clearly a still life in its origin. Beautifully well done!
