2025 It's Pastel! PSNH Juried National Exhibition

It is our pleasure to share with you our exciting National Exhibition! In addition to this virtual page, the 2025 show is on display at the Thornhill Art Gallery! It is a joy to see the works in person, and we highly encourage a visit if you are in the vicinity. And for those who live a distance, we are pleased to bring you this online celebration of great work in the pastel arts.

This year's Juror of Selection was Sandra Burshell. As we had 202 entries, she was tasked with selecting only 55 to be included in this year's show.  From the 55 works, our Juror of Awards, Jeff Fioravanti designated 21 works to receive this year's awards totaling nearly $7000!  We also have 1 award chosen by Sandra Burshell, and 1 to be selected by the in-person exhibition attendees, The People's Choice!

Kudos on a job well done to Shuk Susan Lee, Show Chair & Paula Frasier, co-chair. This year we had extra assistance and want to recognize Charleen Knight, Mia Houman and Keith Demanche for their efforts & contributions. All of the works in the exhibit are available for purchase!  To purchase online, please reach out to Shuk (suel404@gmail.com) directly and she will assist in connecting the buyer to the artist.or gallerist: Robin Thornhill.  Prize Awards List

Crescendo by Rita Berkowitz

BEST OF SHOW

I just got completely lost in this piece. The tonal shifts, the interplay of  light, warm and cool, the interaction between the orange and blues that transition into those lovely purples, the exquisite and expressive mark making—this is pastel painting at its best. I was constantly pulled back to this piece. It is burnt into my mind, my soul and while walking amongst the many fine works in the show, it kept calling to me in whispers that mimic the peace and joy found when seeing something special. A painting is supposed to strike a chord, sometimes the viewer doesn’t know why those mystic chords tug at them, but here, under the skillful hand of this artist is a beckoning softly calling “come with me, see the places we shall go” and as I take those steps into this piece, I am grateful to this artist for bringing me along to share their journey.                              ~Jeff Fioravanti
