2020 It's Pastel! Online National Show Virtual Gallery

It is our pleasure to share with you our exciting National Exhibition! While it's a joy seeing the works in person, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, like many other social gatherings, we have moved to a safer online option as a way to still celebrate a year of great work in the pastel arts.

We have a few ways for you to enjoy the exhibit. Our winner's slideshow showcases this year's winners as awarded by our esteemed Juror, Lana Ballot. (Hover over the picture to stop the slide from automatically advancing).  For those that enjoy music & art we have the winners and the whole show set to music.  Further below we have our gallery showcasing all accepted pieces. Click on the picture of the piece to reveal the whole work. This year's Juror of Selection was Mike Beeman. As we had over 300 entries, he was tasked with selecting only 87 to be included in this year's show.

Great thanks to Shuk Susan Lee as the Show Chair, Keith Demanche as the co-chair, and to Susanne Larkham, the Webmaster. All works in the exhibit are available for purchase!  Please contact Shuk Susan Lee (suel404@gmail.com) directly and she will assist in connecting the buyer to the artist.

And the Prize goes to...

Irish Cemetery by Mark Fernandez

BEST OF SHOW

This work so perfectly captures the beauty of pastels, their ability to combine the sophisticated color and immediacy of a quick sketch. In spite of the view of a cemetery, brilliant sunshine seems to be what this painting is about - the beauty it brings into an ordinary scene, its reassuring effect. This light feels so real and hits just the right notes - from the dappled lights in the luminous shadows in the foreground, to bright warm sunlight in the middle, to the atmospheric blues in the distance. The artist engages the viewer to explore the beautiful mosaic of shapes, lines and colors.
