Ann Gillespie is an award-winning artist in both pastels and printmaking. She holds a BA in Studio Arts from Hamilton College, in upstate New York. Alongside a career in graphic design, she began creating her own artwork again in about 2008. In 2012 she was re-introduced to pastels, leading her to discover how diverse and rich the medium is. Since then pastels have been her primary focus, though periodic printmaking also strongly informs her artwork. She is passionate about landscape painting, especially painting “en plein air” which helps her observe color and light more directly and keeps her more connected to nature.
Ann is a Master Level (juried) Artist at The Newburyport Art Association, a signature member of Central MA Pastel Society (CMPS), and a member of Pastel Society of New Hampshire, and The Bolton Artisan’s Guild. Her paintings are in private collections in the US and abroad and her work in both pastels and printmaking is in permanent collections of the UMass Memorial Hospitals. She has been teaching pastels at Fivesparks (Harvard, MA) since 2017, and is a co-organizing founder of Bolton & Harvard Open Studios.
