Announcing our 17th National Juried Exhibition, "It's Pastel! " We're so excited to reveal that this year's event is moving to the Thornhill Art Gallery just steps away from the popular Market Square in Portsmouth, the quintessential cultural draw on the seacoast of New Hampshire. The gallery is surrounded by a variety of restaurants and shops, all within walking distance. The show in its entirety will also be posted to our website after the opening reception & awards ceremony.
It's Pastel! National Juried Exhibition 2025 Full Prospectus
Eligibility:
• Open to all artists in the United States ONLY. No International entries.
• Artists may enter up to 3 digital images.
• Work must be ORIGINAL SOFT pastels only (No less than 80%). No oil pastels. No classroom or workshop work allowed. If it is painted from a photo, it must be the artist’s reference.
• No works from any previous Pastel Society of New Hampshire (PSNH) exhibitions, including our PSNH member show.
• Paintings must have been completed after January 1, 2023.
• A painting that has received top awards (Best in Show, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize) at any International or National Juried Show as of September 18th is not allowed.
• All paintings are for sale. No NFS.
• No more than 1 painting per artist will be accepted.

Up to 3 Digital Images: PSNH Members - $40
Non-Members - $50

Calendar:
Monday, August 18, 2025 - Registration opens.
Thursday, September 18, 2025 – All entries must be received.
Monday, September 29, 2025 – Notification will be emailed to artists.
Friday, October 31, 2025 – Delivery of all shipped work.
Sunday, November 2, 2025, 11-3pm – Drop off accepted work
Saturday, November 8, 2025, 5-7:30pm – Opening reception, Awards Ceremony Saturday, November 29, 2025 – Exhibit Closes
Sunday, November 30, 2025, 11am-3pm – Pick up
Requirements:
Size Limit: Maximum 45” in any direction (including frame). Accepted work must be clean, securely framed and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers allowed. If mats are used, white, off-white, or neutral mats are recommended. Gallery framing standards are expected.
Painting must be identical to the accepted digital entry. Paintings not meeting the requirements will be rejected. Images of accepted work will be retained for PSNH archives.
The artist grants permission to reproduce work for publicity purposes, both in print and digital galleries. Copyright will be attributed to the artist. Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus and Entry Form and is your commitment to participate.
Your entry form is a legal and binding contract to deliver artwork that has been juried into the show. If, after being juried in, an entrant chooses not to deliver artwork, he or she may not enter a PSNH show for a period of two years.
Sales: A 40% commission will be taken for all sold work.
Awards: $6,000 in awards are given including cash, products and gift certificates.
Liability:
All reasonable care will be taken for all work. However, neither The Pastel Society of New Hampshire nor Thornhill Art Gallery will be responsible for loss or damage to paintings. The entry form and payment for this exhibition constitutes an agreement with the above. We recommend artists carry their own insurance. PSNH reserves the right to exclude from exhibition any artwork deemed offensive.
