Personal Statement

Having lived in Hong Kong and Boston all my life, as well as having visited many other multi-cultural cities abroad, I relate to people, urban scenes, and cultural themes. My painting inspirations come from the cities I have visited, the people I have met, and the different cultures I have experienced. Recently, I have been drawn to figures in setting scenes, where I like to convey a story.

What motivates me to paint could be a scene with dramatic lighting, a relationship between people, a meaningful story I want to convey, or interesting visual patterns that I have observed.  For example, I will take an interesting perspective to convey a message.

In summary, my art is a way of putting all my interests and passions together, to share my personal experiences and feelings with others.
