IAPS Sixteenth Juried Exhibition

The 16th juried competition of the International Association of Pastel Societies will be hosted by the

Butler Museum, Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio. Prizes will be awarded:

First Place, $1,000;

Second Place: $500;

Third Place, $250,

Fourth and Fifth Place: $150,

and Honorable Mentions to be determined by the Judge of Awards ($100 each).

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to any artist who is a member of an IAPS Society. Proof of current membership will be

required (copy of membership card, cancelled check or other proof). Pastel Society of NH is an IAPS

CALL FOR ENTRIES

“For Pastels Only on Cape Cod, 2010”

“For Pastels Only on Cape Cod, 2010” will be held June 9 - 27, 2010, at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod

in South Yarmouth. The deadline for your entries (via digital image on CD) is February12, 2010.

The jurors for this national exhibit are both members of the Pastel Society of America. Margaret Dyer

presented our 2009 Master Class, and Richard McKinley will present the June 2010 Master Class

and be will jury of awards “For Pastels Only”. The Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, June 12

at 5 pm at the Cultural Center.

CALL to ARTISTS ...

The Monadnock Area Artists Association is sponsoring a juried fine arts show at the Jaffrey Civic Center in Jaffrey, NH from June 18 to July 17, 2010.    Artists may enter up to 2 pieces of original artwork, or photography conceived and created by the entrant.   We   are pleased to have Richard Whitney as the Juror of selection and awards.  Awards will be given for First Place, Second Place, Third Place and three Honorable Mentions.

Richard Whitney is widely regarded as one of America’s best portrait and landscape painters. Whitney’s paintings hang in over 650 public and private collections throughout the United States and abroad.  He was the cover artist for the April 1982 issue of American Artist and was featured again in April 2000.  Whitney is the author of Painting the Visual Impression and a co-author of the book Realism in Revolution: The Art of the Boston School.  His paintings have also been reproduced in the book Edmund C. Tarbell and the Boston School of Painting.  Whitney has traveled and painted in Europe, Japan, Alaska and the Caribbean and has lectured and conducted workshops throughout the United States.
